what made your midwife great?

as a student midwife, I'm always interested in hearing what made your midwife different than all the others. Maybe you had a different midwife this time around? or maybe your first time ever having a midwife? I would love to hear all about it!

Answer

My midwife takes the time to understand where you are mentally. It's important to not have a mental block when birthing. She asks questions to address anything prior to labor. She also checked on me daily the first week pp and weekly for over a month. She came with a sits bath remedied I bathed in after birth and cleaned the whole house before leaving.

THey were so supportive, took their time with me, never made me feel like any question was too silly, took all my concerns seriously, supported me in labour, took my concerns seriously in labour, explained everything to me in detail, suggested positions for me to try, encouraged me to move, to not move what ever I felt like I needed at the time. Supported my decision to go natrual, then my decision to have gas then the epidural. Let me have as much skin to skin time I wanted.

Gave me complete freedom in my choices

Sense of humour, genuinely caring, advocated my needs and desires, well trained in an emergency situation (shoulder dystocia)😊
