Do you let your newborn cry? (Up to 4months old)

If they're fed, changed and everything would you let them cry themself to sleep or atleast let them cry for 15-30 mins?

Wow, 30% so far said yes?! A newborn is too young for CIO? There are more reasons for them to cry than diaper, tiredness, or hunger! They are too young to even develop self-soothing techniques, which the point of CIO is to allow your child to learn to self soothe. But if they are too young to learn it then it is just cruel to let them cry. I know we can all get frustrated and exhausted, but hey you chose to be a parent!

Even CIO advocates don't recommend letting babies CIO until 6 months. Now if you're frustrated and need a break, that's different but before 6 months of age you should rock and hold your newborn

Depends. My son had colic til he was a month old, he would cry for hours on end so after I checked to make sure he was fed, dry, and not being poked repeatedly with a sharp stick, I would swaddle him and lay him next to me. It isn't possible to constantly carry a baby for a month, so yeah at times my baby was crying and being left to do so. I always stay close, listen to the tones of a cry, and do an initial check to see if the problem can be solved or for any injuries. I can listen to a certain "nothing is actually wrong" cry for 15 minutes but respond immediately to an intensely toned cry. A lot depends on what the cry sounds like

I wint start CIO until like 7mo...Of course I wont be jumping up and grabbing the baby after a few whines/cry sounds because a lot of the time they will just settle down but if it's full blown crying yes I will be comforting her..newborns are just too little to understand why no one is coming when they are scared/anxious/uncomfortable/gassy, or in pain.

My daughter is 7 months and I still don't let her cry it out and I'm not gonna start.  Everyone says I spoil her but Idc.

The main reason why parents pick they baby up is bc yal can't handle the crying. Seems like it's more you then the baby

This in itself really IS a personal decision.
 
I plan to let my child cry but I will still talk with him, rub his tummy, and so on.  I just will not pick him up until 5-10 minutes if non stop crying.

Four month is to young. Developmentally they only understand the world through comfort or lack there of.

I think it's about the amount of time you let them cry. 10-15mins tops is sufficient for self-sooth training, and anymore than that most likely means they are in need.

My son is 9days old and so far only reason he cries is because he's hungry ... and I know he's hungry because he sucks his fingers and looks for breast or bottle. He doesn't cry for being wet or anything else. So no I don't let him cry and its not because I can't handle the crying. Other then that my little man sleeps all day.
