Naming question!! Emily too similar to Amelia ?

My best friends baby is Amelia. My other half and I like the name Emily. Are they too similar ? We already both have daughters with R names, her first is Rosalia and my first is Ruby. Should I ask my best friend for her opinion ? We normally keep the name we've chosen secret until birth.

I don't find it similar, I adore the name Emily! When I was younger all my dolls were named Emily and if I have a little girl her name will be Emily. It's ultimately up to you and your partner, so if you want Emily go for it?

Is it pronounced Amelia as in like Amelia Earhart? I only ask because I don't think Amelia and Emily sound anything alike, but since your asking if they do I'm wondering if they pronounce it differently? If they don't pronounce it differently then I think your good with Emily.

I know someone with two daughters. One has the middle name Emily and the other has the middle name Amelia.

I wouldn't think of them to be similar at all. Hers starts with "Uh" sound and ends in "Uh". Yours starts with "Eh" and ends in "Ee".
 Emily also is not a nickname for Amelia. 
I think you would be fine.
