Can you take parts of the Bible metaphorically?

Many accept every bit of the Bible as literal but as I read it, while I do believe, I am starting to believe many parts are metaphorical. For instance, the Bible says we are made up of dust. This is true in a sense, we are made up of some of the same components of stardust which is amazing to me. However I do believe evolution happened. I don't think he took literal dust up from the ground and made a person but there are many ways that this makes sense. I also don't think anyone lived inside of a fish for three days. But I think these stories could all be interpreted into something different by every believer and everyone can learn a lesson from God from these stories even if they aren't "true." I think some of the stories may just be there to teach us lessons, not to be taken literally. Is this a possibility? Is anyone Christian while also believing this? Curious to know!
