Cramps after IUD insertion--How long does this go on?!

Hello everyone! I had an IUD (Paragard) inserted Monday (this is my third day having it). I've been having terrible cramps, but it seems like they're getting a little less severe, or at least more easily managed with ibuprofen and a hot compress. Even so, I've already missed a couple days of work due to the pain.

How long did your cramps last after getting an IUD, and how did you deal with it?

In case it's relevant, I'm 24, never been pregnant, and I wasn't on my period during the insertion.

The day of insertion was TERRIBLE. Next day they were already mild. Still get intense ones sometimes but I usually take extra strength Tylenol and I'm goo.

Mine were intermittent for like 3 months and then even less often for the next 2. Seriously worst cramps of my life!! Heating pads saved my life. Haven't had them in 3 months now.

Had excruciating cramps nonstop for the first 2 months then it started to let up - was killing my liver using Advil and tylonel so go easy on that. Muscle relaxers work like a charm!! Also you may not feel up to it at the time but sex and masturbation help ease the tensing muscles!
