My bf of 8 yrs cheated 3 yrs ago it was horrible I obviously forgave him but i cant forget and have very little trust i belive he hasnt cheated since but i just dnt know....theres a feeling i have that somthings going on he swears that its all in my head that i can forget about everything in the past that i can be happy with him ans trust him but hes lied so much idk if to even belive that....i love him but if i cant compleatly forget about him cheating theres going to be no trust and therefore no relationship...its been theee yrs and im starting to think maybe i just cant get over this we have two kids had only one when he cheated weve been together 8 yrs just want to hear some opinions thanks

I'm sorry you going through this. I think maybe you should try counseling. If there is no trust in a relationship, there is basically nothing. I do believe people can change if they really wanted to. I think if after 3 years this is still bothering you, you and your partner should get counseling to deal with the trust issues. It's not easy but maybe that will help with the trust issues. I personally feel that once trust is broken it's never the same and I think you are very strong and brave for taking him back. I hope it all works out for you.

Yes I do believe that a person can change but if u are feeling the way u say u are! Believe your gut! Life's too short to go thru it unhappy! Besides, u need to stay happy for your kids!

I believe once a cheater always a cheater. But that's my opinion. My husband knows if he cheated there is no making up or going to counseling. And to all the bible thumpers, adultery was one of the ok reasons to get divorced. I feel a girl knows when something is up. If you don't feel right, talk to him about it. No amount of years can change the fact you might deserve better. Good luck.

I believe it can go both ways. What matters is how you handle it...maybe counseling will help...I've stayed with an old bf who cheated and trusted again....if my bf now cheated I would leave....only because I expect better from him and him cheating on me (we're expecting) would be the ultimate betrayal

I would never stay with someone who cheated on me and would never want someone to stay with me if I cheated. My I was with my ex bf for two years and I was in a bad place and looked for attention else where. I cheated on him then broke it off right away. I'm married now and have been with my husband 3 years and I would never ever cheat on him. Ever. I've cheated but i would never again. Also I still feel awful about what I did.
