How do I start on birth control?

Hey ladies I need your help! I'm 17 and I'm becoming sexually active with my parter. He suggested me the depo shot but after reading opinions and experiences, and making my research I thought that the depo was maybe effective but too strong for a first timer. I was thinking about the pill but I have my questions: 
1. If I don't have insurance, how can I get it? 
2. You still get your periods?
3. If yes, if you don't get your period can it mean you're pregnant?
4. Is it normal to bleed between cycles or miss a period? 
5. I've seen you can get a prescription online and get pills by mail, has anyone tried it? 
6. How effective are they? 
7. Side effects? 
And what would you recommend me? Pill or shot?

I got the ring it is the best birth control. You can pick and choose when you want your period. you insert your ring in after you had your periomd you can they choose to keep the ring in for a extra week and have no period at all or take it out for a week and have a period. best 😛😛

I got the pill. 
Here's my experience: 
1. I had NO side effects until I took myself off of them(I got very moody and mean for about two weeks)
2. The pill made my periods less painful 
3. After I got off the pill my periods are still regular
4. I did not get pregnant on or off the pill
5. My insurance covered my pills if not it would be 100 dollars
I took mine every morning right before school. It was the easiest for me because I worked two jobs and never slept any where else but home so I always had my pills.! On weekends I didn't wake up early just to take a pill.
