Pacis or no pacis?

Question

I bought a BPA free pacifier that won't hurt her gums or teeth. One piece so the plastic part can't fall off..., but I'm scared to use it. 
I have been told numerous times that  it will reduce the risk of SIDS which is why I originally bought it. But... I'm scared if she starts to cry or yawns that it will flip sideways in her mouth and choke her. I'm afraid that I won't know if she is hungry. I'm nervous something bad will happen when I put it in her mouth at night to sleep. 
What's your opinions?

My son always uses his pacifier. His mouth is far too small for a binky to naturally turn and him to choke on it, I use it because for one it reduces chances of sids and for another it helps to calm him. He definitely still let's me know when he's hungry, the binky does not pacify him when he's ready to eat he spits it out. I think you're overthinking this. If you want to use one do, if you don't then don't it's okay either way.

My first loves pacifiers. When they get older you just poke a hole in it and it loses all pleasure to them so they throw it down and move on. My second wouldn't take them so I let my kids decide. Like others said a pacifier won't pacify a hungry baby.

My son didn't like pacifiers at all so all the ones I bought were a waste of money. So maybe your baby won't  like them.

No chocking, they are designed for babies. You ll know when a baby is hungry cuse will cry and refuse pacifier, will want food lol

My babe loves them, he rather suck on my boob but I can't have him attached to me 24/7 so when he's done eating but still wants to comfort nurse I switch my nip out for a paci and he usually goes right to sleep.

I've never seen a pacifier end up sideways in a child's mouth...if she starts to cry it will likely just fall out. When she's hungry, a pacifier will not stop her from crying, so that's how you'll know. And yes, pacifiers will definitely help reduce the risk of sids, but if you don't want her to have one that's okay too!

I dont use them because it becomes hard to wean the babies from them.

But right now my son is nursing so much im sure part of the time hes just trying to pacify himself.

I agree about not knowing if the baby will be hungry.
