Why do my baby scratch and rub his head at night?

My baby has had cradle cap and its going away so does anybody know if cradle cap itches or could my baby just have gas? 
Google doesn't have the answers I need!!!!

Babies scratch themselves because they don't have full control of their hands. It's normal with or without cradle cap. Put socks on his hands so he won't scratch. If he likes to suck his thumb, you'll have to choose between him scratching or screaming for his thumb. Tough call to make at 2 am. But if he isn't a thumb sucker, it will fix it.

For cradle cap, put baby oil on it. Let it sit for 10 minutes and then wash it out with baby shampoo.

Yes it can itch. Use coconut oil after her bath and it will clear up on its own and that will help with the itching.

Are u sure it's not eczema? That can itch. My son got it on a spot on his head when he was a baby and would grab at it.
