41 Weeks and she is finally here!
To start I want to apologise for the length, I just wanted it to be detailed for all the expecting ladies!!
I'm feeling so blessed my little girl made her arrival into the world on December 20th at 10:46am!!
My labor started out the day before. I was at work when I finally lost my mucus plug around 3pm. I started to feel some cramping but just passed it off as braxton hicks. I got home around five and noticed the cramps were starting to become regular. The pain wasn't to bad at this point. Around 9:45 my contractions were regular lasting for over a minute being about 5 mins apart.
My dh then calls the midwife who asks us to come in to the birth center as she wanted to check things out because I was GBS positive. We drove 45 minutes to the center and they found that I was really dehydrated. They checked my cervix and I was still only 1 cm dialated but about 80% effaced. So they gave me some fluids and gave me an option to stay there or go home until things ramped up a little more. Dh and I decided to go home and got back to the house around 1 in the morning. I tried to lay down for a little while and did manage to get a little bit of sleep.
I was awoken around 6am by very severe contractions. I must have been vocalizing a little to loud as I woke dh. Who again called the midwife and started to get things together again to make the 45 minute drive.
About 10 minutes from the center my water broke in the car. I was honestly questioning whether it was my water or I seriously wet myself.
We got to the center and they checked my cervix. I was now 3cm dialated and about 85% effaced. The mw started me on my antibiotics and then left me to labor how I wanted. They would check on me every so often and would listen to baby's heartbeat to make sure everything was good. (We were not hooked up to any monitors.)
I labored in the jacuzzi tub for a while. The jets helped my contractions tremendously. As I went to get out of the tub I got really sick. Dh was a trooper as he helped clean me up. They checked my cervix and I was only 5cm dialated.
At this time laboring was really intense. Nothing I tried relieved the pain. About 30 minutes after they last checked me I felt the need to go to the bathroom. The nurse came in while I was attempting to go. She must have realized what was going on. I heard a flurry of people rush into the room and they asked me to come to the bed to be checked. I started to make my way from the bathroom to the bed but the pain was so intense, I dropped to the floor with the urge to push. As I did this my dh and the mw and nurse came rushing over and started ripping my underwear off. They get me on to the bed and check my cervix. I'm assuming I hit 10 cm but I couldn't really hear anything they were saying. I just had to push. They did ask me to turn to the my side as her heart rate was dropping a little. 20 minutes of pushing and my sweet baby girl made her arrival at 10:46am.
I had two minor tears near my urethera. That was it. I didn't get my full dose of antibiotics so instead of staying for 4 hours we had to stay for 12 hrs.
I am a ftm. It took us 18 months to conceive. 41 weeks to deliver. No signs of labor till it hit. Several hours of active labor. 20 mins of pushing. All natural, no medication. All of it worth it!!
