possible tmi- piercing advice

Took out my Christina piercing to get a nice  clean shave in before holidays.... Putting it back in took me over an hour between not seeing what I'm doing over the bump and it not sliding back as it usually does.... Here's my question: Does your vagina skin actually stretch? The skin seemed thinner and the idea of having to get it re-pierced because the skin thins too much is miserable but I don't want the thin skin to be ripped open if the jewlery gets caught on anything... Should I take it out or wait till labor when they force me to remove it?
