Did your ultrasound tech tell you how many weeks you were?

I had my ultrasound today where I find out how many weeks I am. After she was done I asked her how far along I am and she said she doesn't know and that my doc would tell me at my next appointment!! My cousins tech told her when she went to get hers done. Is this normal?

The tech isn't supposed to tell you how far you are. That should come from doctor. When I had my dating scan the tech didn't tell me either. The nurse called me and told me the due date. It was a few days after my ultrasound too. Try not to worry. Enjoy your holiday!

I don't know if it's different in the UK but this is my second pregnancy and I've had early scans with both. The technician has always given me a rough date x

As an ultrasound tech we don't tell you the results of the exam or tell you how many weeks. It's a preference if we show the screen or not. Depends on the tech. doesn't mean anything is necessarily wrong

Try not to panic, im not an ultrasound tech but I'm a nuclear medicine tech and we are not allowed to read the scans only a doctor is allowed to read the scan for liability purposes. So this may be the same situation. Either way try to stay calm until you see your doctor.

They go off of your lmp, not really ultrasound because it's more accurate. Unless you really have no idea when you had your last period i guess.

My doctor did my dating scan, so I was told right away. But when I had my 20 week anatomy scan, the tech was pretty quiet and didn't give us a lot of information, which I expected since medical information should be delivered by doctors or nurses :)
