Sick Baby! Croup?

Lynzee • Mommy 💗 Business Student 📈 Christian ✝

Please pray for my sweet Ammarie. Friday, she came down with what we thought was a regular cold. Saturday, she started running a low temp, and Sunday just got even worse. Her cough sounds more like a bark and is very scary sounding. She's so congested, you can hear it when she breathes. I'm almost positive she has croup.

Last night was horrible. She was coughing so hard, she threw up. Her congestion is breaking loose, and her nose is just pouring snot. Her fever went to 100.4 (that's not too high but still worries me)

We called my husband's aunt who is a pediatric nurse, and she said that it does sound like croup. She mentioned croup normally lasts 5-6 days, and the second or third night is usually the worst of it. That would've been last night. So, I'm hoping were on the downhill side of things. She also acts normal during the day, she's still playing and eating, etc. Nighttime is when it flares up. We're keeping medicine in her, and if her fever goes up higher than what it is now, the aunt/nurse suggested going to an urgent care center. I'm glad the congestion is breaking loose, but she's pretty miserable. I'm not usually the type of mom to just up and go to the doctor everytime she's sick, but I'm beginning to get worried. I hope she was right, and last night was the worst of it all.

To the mama's who have had a baby with croup, does that sound like it? What helped your baby?

Please please pray for my baby. I'm keeping a close eye on her.

Hope your beautiful girl feels better! Try running a hot shower and getting the bathroom super steamy and just sitting in there with her for a while. Heard it works wonders. Good luck!

What a sweetie oh my gosh 😍 from what you're telling me, it sounds like my child had croup! Her docs didn't even mention it could be a thing! I'll pray your LO gets better soon ☹️

My 8 month old just got over croup last week, it was awful. His cough sounded like a bark and he was really horse, he never ran a fever but his nose was pouring snot, I couldn't keep up with sucking it out and wiping it. He was usually fine during the day but a little extra clingy and night time I felt so bad. The only thing that helped us was keeping Tylenol in him and then before bed we would go in the bathroom with a steamy shower or go for a drive and crack the windows so the cool air could get to him. His started out with just a slight cough and by 3 am it was awful, I had never delt with croup before so I took him to the er and they gave him a dose of a steroid. Hope your baby gets feeling better fast, croup is awful :(

My LO got croup from his big brother when he was 3 months old. I had just returned to work the week before then had stayed home with him for 3 days. It was so sad and miserable to watch my poor baby, so defensiveless, be so miserable. What I kept constantly doing was running hot water and sitting in the bathroom to keep him cleared up. I also used a hot Vicks humidifier in the room. He fought it and came out a champ the other side and was better by day 3-4. All you can do is ride it out with them, and give extra extra snuggles. Good luck momma.

I'm doing the shower steam right now. It seems to help. Thank you!

You can't miss the barking seal cough, it's very recognizable.

Also, antibiotics won't help the croup virus, but it is important to get a steroid for your little one to help their throat. I would suggest seeing a doctor for that for sure.

Thanks everyone!! She acts so much better this morning. We're doing the steam from the showers every couple hours, and will go for a car ride with the window down this evening. Thank you!

Sorry your little ones poorly. What a miserable worrying time. Could be croup or bronchiatous possibly. Theres a real nasty cold going around though and its lingering so could be viral/cold. Hope she improves soon.
