my almost 1-year old is sick
I apologize for some bad grammar in here... I'm freaking out a little. My daughter is almost 1 (her birthday is this upcoming Saturday) and she is sick. She's never been sick before today. I took her to the doctor yesterday since she had a slight fever of 100.7, had a really funny nose, wouldn't drink anything, and was tugging at her ears. There wasn't an ear infection, but they said her ears could be bugging her from being congested. They said to give her Tylenol, so I brought her home and gave her a dose. The fever went down. Later tonight around 7:30, her fever went up to 103. I gave her another dose of Tylenol, she drank 10oz of formula, the fever went down a little, and I put her to bed. She woke up at 2 with a temp of mid-103's, and she has been throwing up. I did one more dose of Tylenol to bring the fever down. She threw up the last little bit of it, then snuggled in and went back to sleep. She woke up again st 3:30 and threw up again. I gave her a little formula to try to get some fluids in so that she wouldn't be dehydrated, and she has kept that down. Her temp is still 103. I called the 24 hour nurse line for my health insurance, and they said to just give her little bits of formula to keep her from being dehydrated and to monitor her temp, and to call the doctor's office when they open. They open in 3 hours... Does anyone know any more home remedies to help get a fever down? She's sleeping now, but I was wondering if someone had some advice for if she wakes up before the doctor's office opens. The insurance line wasn't much help.
