Breastfeeding at night - what are your plans?

Question

If your baby is sleeping in your bedroom, what are your plans for nighttime feedings? My baby girl's crib is next to my bed but I don't want to risk laying down in bed to feed her. I'm not sure I'm comfortable bed sharing right away and I definitely don't want to risk falling asleep once I'm sleep deprived! But I also don't know how practical it will be to get up and move to a recliner in the living room etc. What is everyone else planning on doing?

I nursed in bed with both kids and my tips would be to always nurse while sitting up (too easy to fall asleep if you're nursing laying down!) and turn on a lamp by your bed. I also kept a bag of Dove chocolates in my nightstand. 😬 When I felt like I was dozing off, I would eat one and drink some water and it would wake me up until we were done feeding. Plus it's really great for when your significant other is sleeping soundly beside you and you kind of want to smother him with a pillow. Just eat some chocolate and you'll feel better.  😂

I fed my first born laying in bed with me.  I will do the same this time with number two.  Just so much easier than sitting up in a chair and easier to go back to sleep for mommy :). We did room share and even bed shared until baby learned to roll.  We have a king bed so was easy to keep our pillows all the way to the side and have baby in the middle in between our heads in a little sleeper,

I got a pack n play with a newborn bassinet for our room, so she will sleep in that for the first few months and it has a changing table attached to it. I plan to just lay in bed, or if I feel like I'm too sleepy and can't trust myself I'll sit up in bed. If I find it too hard to stay awake I'll get up and go to another room but I'm hoping I can figure it out to maximize sleep!

I have an arms reach Co-sleeper.  Plan to move her back and forth for feedings.

Mom, you're worrying without a reason for it. 
Yes, you will be sleep deprived but you will not be a zombie that commercials show on TV. You will be alert and awake and you will manage an extra moment to put your baby in the crib.

Have a bedside bassinet as well as an in bed bassinet, plan on primarily only using beside. I will either sit up in bed or walk to the baby's room right next door to use the glider chair we have depending on what I find works best for me. If baby needs a diaper change we will go to baby's room. Ftm so this is an adventure.

Our little girl will be in her pack n play. I will take her out change her, sit up in bed to feed than move her back to the pack n play. I will have to get up since I got a silicon milk catcher for the let down on the non feeding side.

For the first couple of weeks my hubby has off to take care of the kids while I sleep and take care of baby, so I feed baby in another room so he can rest. I'll usually go to the family room, especially bc at first it can take a couple times to get baby to latch. When they get older they don't need to see or anything, but at first I always need a little light.

Im not one for bed sharing (im very restless) so my boys had a pack in play in our room. I found during in bed was most comfortable and convenient, i wouldnt fall asleep and i used to pillows for back support.  I also recommend a great nursing pillow such as the boppy and having diapers wipes and extra clothes with in reach.
