cooper IUD still in place after ten years

Have had cooper IUD in place for over ten years. Anyone know if I'm risking my health by not getting it replaced yet. According to my paper work I was to get it replace January 2016. I'm so broke I can't afford to get it replaced. But I'm a little concerned since my paper work says I was to have it changed now a year ago and I haven't. I e heard some go longer then supposed to but haven't read or heard if I'm risking health by not getting it changed.
