How should I handle this?

My SO gets random anxiety attacks that are so unpredictable. I personally cannot relate to him because I don't have anxiety issues. I wish I could help him and I always want to hold him close when he's going through one and reassure him but he just goes for his meds and pushes me away. Is that common or normal? How do I help him? I'm afraid if I leave him alone he will think I don't care. Does anyone else suffer from anxiety attacks or have an SO that does? Any advice would be greatly appreciated

I personally don't use medication. Maybe that's the reason why when I get panic attacks I like to be with someone so they could talk with me or hold me. For me that works best I hate having panic attack when I'm alone , it scares me. But if your hubby wants to be left alone, give him his space and when he's feeling better assure him that you are there for him, and that you'll do what you can to help him.

I dont take meds, but i really dont want help cause it makes me feel more helpless sometimes you just need the distance to get yourself back together (dont want my SO seeing me that way)

I get bad anxiety and yes I medicate, it makes the anxiety rise when someone tries to help, let him calm down on his own
