For the last 2 or 3 weeks now I have had some uti type symptoms. I went to the nurse practitioner at my college campus, and she tested me for uti. It came back positive for a very serious uti that had the potential to evolve into a kidney infection. She gave me a 3 day course of antibiotic (Ciprofloxacin) and had me closely monitor my symptoms for the next week. My symptoms lessened, and almost dissapeared. 2 days after I finished the antibiotic my symptoms were back full force. I went back to the school nurse practitioner and she retested me. The infection had lessened, but wasn't completely gone so she gave me another antibiotic. This time she sent the sample to the lab. It was a friday so results didn't arrive until Monday. The nurse practitioner called me on monday and told me that the lab found no infection, and told me to stop taking the antibiotic. She then told me that if I continued to have symptoms that she would have to test me for sti's. She said that lots of sti's can act like uti's. My symptoms improved and I was fine for almost a week. Now my symptoms are back, and even worse than they were previously. I made an appointment with my primary care doctor for tomorrow to get this sorted out but I am terrified. Also, this evening after dinner I noticed a white, puss like lump on the side of my throat. My first thought was that it was just a tonsil stone, but it did not come loose after gargling with water, and trying to knock it down with my toothbrush, so it is probably not a tonsil stone. I have not slept with anyone other than my monogamous significant other in almost 5 years. I had a small suspicion that he may have cheated, but have no real proof. I am very paranoid at times, so I've been telling myself that thats all it is. Is it possible that I have an sti? Is there any way to get an sti other than sexually? I have used my mother's razor by accident a couple times, we use the same type. I am not aware of her having any sti's but that is not the kind of thing she would tell me anyway. Please help.
