💩during labor - how to avoid??

Question

Sorry if its a tmi question. But can you 💩 before you go into labor, so that it doesnt happen while you're having the baby? Or any other tips to prevent it from happening?

I know everyone will be like "its fine it happens all the time they don't care" but I care and my husbands gonna care, and i would be mortified beyond belief. So please help 😩

Well here is a story for everyone when I had my first son I had to you know use the restroom and I was about 7 centimeters dialated the nurses helped me to the bathroom and everything, but everyone who was with me was scared he would fall into the toilet so everyone literally watched me take a 💩 which was about 6  people needless to say when I was ready to push him out I still had another bowel movement 😔

I guess if you feel the urge to go while in labor you could try but it may not "prevent" it. You are using those muscles to push baby out which is why it's so common. And when people say you won't even notice it's true. I've had 4 babies and I only know for sure of pooping once and the only reason I know is because I have a very honest friend who was there and I asked her. I was there for my nieces birth and I know my sister pooed but I have never said anything to her and it was just wiped away by the doctor right away, no fuss. Even as a bystander watching you don't think anything of it because something greater is happening.

Poop will likely still come out because of the nature of the force of pushing and the fact that even going before you hit the hospital doesn't guarantee that you're emptying your bowels.  Try not to sweat it- nurses clean it quickly and discreetly.

I was mortified at the thought w my first labor. But there was no avoiding it if I didn't push as hard as I could I knew my kid could be hurt. I wouldn't do stool softeners because who knows how that would affect the baby. My advice have your spouse at your back helping you stay upright. With the blankets and sheets and your knees up he won't see it. As for the drs and nurses they have been there for hundreds maybe thousands of births it's an everyday thing for them. They are more concerned with you and your baby not the poop or pee. Honestly just focus on getting the baby out safely for both of you. Not that. Also some people puke during labor.. so be aware that can happen too. If you still dont want your spouse to see think about going old school movie style where the dad gets kicked out and paces the waiting room.

Honestly when my sister was giving birth and she passed feces the nurses wiped it down quick and continued like nothing happened is no big deal.

I don't have any advice for how to avoid it because my body did a "self-cleansing" of the bowels the night before I went into labor. Recurring diarrhea after dinner every 40-60 minutes until I went to bed. I didn't poop my whole labor and didn't poop when I delivered. I pushed as hard as I could and gave myself nasty hemorrhoids. 😷 They STILL hurt. I pooped again the day after I gave birth and it was very soft. My body did this on its own. My body also held in its pee, I didn't pee all of labor. I just...couldn't. Right after giving birth though when I went to the bathroom I had to pee SO BAD and I sounded like Austin Powers! I probably peed for at least a minute straight and I felt so much better after! 😂😂😂 The same "self-cleansing" thing is something that apparently is common in my family.

My dr basically said not everyone poops but if you are pushing the hardest you can and correctly you are most likely gonna poop and believe me you aren't gonna care and you 99% won't even know.
