has anyone with hsv2 (or hsv1) given birth to a healthy baby?

I'm terrified I'm going to pass the virus to my daughter. The closer I get to my due date I'm getting so stressed out. I know the doctors will check for signs of an outbreak when I go into labor but you can also transfer the infection through shedding skin. I'm so afraid .... 😢

Update: I had my 32 week checkup today and talked to my doctor about planning a c section. She was very understanding of why i would want one and said it's completely up to me how I deliver my baby. She also is starting me on the supressive meds now so I have much less chance of an outbreak, if I do choose to deliver vaginally. I'm pretty relieved. Ill make the final decision at my 38 or 39 week checkup🙂

I was worried too but more people have it than not. So far my daughter is 37 days old and seems fine!  I delivered vaginally too.  Try not to stress so much.  💕

I'm almost 34w and have an outbreak right now. I'm getting pretty nervous. I tend to get them even when I'm on the medicine and I'm so worried about shedding. I'm considering a csection.

If you contracted it before you got pregnant, your risk is low of having an outbreak at birth. If  you contracted it during pregnancy then you have a higher risk of having an outbreak at birth. You can still give birth vaginally as long as you do not have an active outbreak. With contracting it before pregnancy, the baby has the antibodies already. Also, make sure to tell your doctor about it so they can start the meds at 36 weeks until birth. But none the less a vaginal birth is very possible.

When you turn 36 Weeks they should prescribe you like a months worth of valtrex, which you have to take everyday until you give birth no matter a breakout or not.

I had two babies so far and was on valtrex the last 4 weeks of both pregnancies. No problems with either and both were vaginal deliveries. Pregnant with #3 and hoping for the same with this one

I'm seriously so afraid of this also 😩 I almost just want to have a planned c section. I'm going on 30 wks pregnant now and I'm just so afraid of baby to come vaginally. What if the dr or nurse miss the outbreak? My dr said it's so common for woman to have this and he has always done vaginal deliveries for the most part and has never had an issue but I still worry
