How many of you momma have dogs? Nervous about how one of mine will respond to my baby. He's super aggressive 😫

I have two German shepherds. We're not worried about either of them but are still taking steps to prepare them. I HIGHLY suggest you get a trainer to work with your pups and to give you specific tips on prepping them. For example, we are not allowing them to rough house in the house anymore. We also have them used to us carrying something they aren't allowed to get at. You can also play sounds of a baby screaming if your dogs are particularly reactive to noises (ours aren't but it's still a valid tip for most pups!).

I can't stress enough how important it is to NEVER ever leave a baby unattended with a dog. And if you call a dog aggressive, get a trainer. I firmly believe we owe our fur babies all we can to give them the best chance at success. Anget and frustration in the moment will only make a bad situation worse and your dog will have no idea why. Worst case, they see the baby as the thing that has you mad and start to view it as a threat.

I have 3 big dogs (2 pitbulls and 1 chow mix). The chow mix is super aggressive to EVERYONE outside of my immediate family and the pitbulls are friendly. I too was worried about how they would act once my baby was born but turns out my fears were not necessary.

To be honest, I didn't do much to prep my dogs for my baby's arrival because I was too busy getting my house ready. The only thing I did was run a baby crying app like 3 times per day for 2 days. And once my baby was born, I had my husband go home while I was still at the hospital with a blanket that had our baby's scent on it and he let the dogs sniff it. Once we brought our baby home, we let them sniff our baby's feet for a few seconds.

We continued to let them sniff our baby's feet for the next few days and that's it. Our baby is 4 weeks old now, and all 3 dogs love him. They love to sniff him and lick his feet all the time. Whenever our baby cries, they get all worked up as if they want to calm him down. They also lay outside the baby door at night and stand guard. :)

I have a German shepherd dog and so worried bc loud noises make him anxious so I am so worried he will strongly dislike this baby and b all anxious. Poor boy.

I have a dog, who's an ex-Indian street dog. He's got a lot of anxiety issues, especially around children, as we're pretty certain he was abused as a puppy, before we adopted him. 
I'm quite worried about him, as we didn't plan this baby, and he has trust issues with strangers, so getting a trainer in has been impossible (it takes at least 2 weeks having someone in the house constantly before he is used to them, and they MUST ignore him!)

However, he is completely fine with me and my partner, and warms up to family members within a couple of days (we think it's something to do with smell). We also have locks on all the internal doors (with keys) so baby's room will be completely out-of bounds. We would never leave him alone with the baby either, and will be teaching both dog and baby how to properly interact (it is possible, but you have to be very strict). We will be doing the baby-blanket thing from day 1, and supervising all interaction. There will also be 4 'friendly' adults in the house, that my dog is already comfortable with, to help ease the stress.

However, if he cannot settle, ultimately, we would have to make the very difficult descision of rehoming him, but I'm pretty confident that we won't have to resort to that. With the right approach, he is a very adaptable dog. He's even been snuggling my bump quite a lot, so there's definitely been some indication that he knows something is happening.

My dog is a lazy, overweight, retired cattle dog. I'm not worried about her at all. I am, however, a little worried about one of my cats. He's a huge ass.

Also make sure they have a safe space.  My dogs have a kennel that they can go in and out of as they please.  It'll make them feel more secure and help ground them when this new person changes everything. I use to train dogs for a living.

We sent blanket and the hat they slapped on the babies right after birth home for them to smell and get use to.  We left the baby in the car seat when we walked in the door and let the dogs smell them before we took the baby out to introduce them.  Before we gave birth let the dogs see, smell the various new baby items: car seat, bassinet, swing ect.  The baby crying app is a good idea, especially with a dog that might be protective or anxious.  Use a baby doll and start acting like it's a real baby.

I got another dog in August and I'm concerned with how she will be. I wasn't planning my baby and I wouldn't be able to get rid of my pup if things don't work out. She's only 5lb but she can still be pretty aggressive towards kids. I'm thinking some sort of training if necessary to hopefully get things worked out
