So tonight my ex was staying the night on the couch so he could visit our 8 month old son for a few days. He came into my room yelling at me to show him who I was talking to on my phone and then held me down by my throat and arm. I told him to leave and then followed him into the living room where he smacked me in my mouth and shoved me backwards onto the couch before he left. I already made the police report and the officer took pictures but now I have to call the family justice center on Tuesday for an order of protection since monday is their holiday.

What's going to happen when I go to the family justice center? The officer said choking is a felony in our state and he's choked me once before (I know I'm stupid for letting him come back over) so is he going to go to jail? My ex wants joint custody or at least visitation of our baby, will he get it? If anyone can walk me through the process or give me some advice I would really appreciate it
