Tampon Help?

So my friend gave me a tampon to use, regular size, and I tried to put it in but it hurt. This is the first I've attempted to put in a tampon. Any ideas?

May sound weird but I found the first time I tried it hurt so I waited to try the next day when my flow was more heavy and it went in pretty easy so I would suggest being on a heavier day to try it for the first time and also don't go straight up go in on an angle :)

Adding on to what Jaide said.....just be more relaxed. If you tense up it cud be difficult to insert. Insert it at an angle & you would be alright.

I always find it easier to be siting on the toilet when I put them in. They still hurt sometimes though. And angles are important. Make sure you get it in all the way, or it will hurt to walk.
