Do not take Plan B while on the pill!!

I see this all the time

THE PILL IS TO PREVENT PREGNANCY. 
If you take it on time everyday and never miss you do not need to take Plan B!

Most pill brands say you are still protected if you miss one day, but check your packet. There is no reason you would ever need Plan B while on the pill unless you literally missed 3+ days in a row.

Plan B = about 3 days of birth control. Taking Plan B + your regular pill is like taking 4 of your pills at one time. It's unessesary. It will mess up your whole month and will give you horrible side effects and make you bleed.

I just wanted to put it out there because it seems some people have no clue how birth control works or how Plan B works.

I've taken it before while on the pill just to be extra safe since it's not 100%. Also sometimes I miss pills because I'm human and simply forget. But if we had an accident again I would definitely take plan b. I'm not ready to have another baby at all. I never had anything bad happen, just made my period a little late. That's it.

The pill is only 99% effective with PERFECT use which means taking the pill every day at the same exact time.

It is only 92% effective with REGULAR/USUAL use... Aka a few hours off or maybe a missed dose . That means that theoretically 8 out of 100 women on the pill who take it in a usual but not perfect way can get pregnant over a period of time.

If you miss a day or two and have unprotected sex, I would use a back up method like a condom or plan b if you did not.

If you forget to take your pill, you need to take it within 12 hours. If it is outside those 12 hours, you have missed it and need to wait until your next pill is due and take that on time. Either way, the pill is not overly effective for the next 7 days and you need to use extra protection like a condom. If you have unprotected sex within those 7 days you could fall pregnant, deeming the morning after pill necessary for use (this is the Plan B pill).

I second this! Plan B on the pill as a perfect user is USELESS and a BAD IDEA. No matter how "safe" and "careful" you want to be, there is no point in taking emergency contraceptives!!! 
Plan B is ONLY for emergencies in which you KNOW you happened to be unprotected. If your excuse is that it's not 100% and plan b can be used "just in case" then you either don't have sex or use condoms.
Plan B has MORE hormones than the pill could ever have therefore taking hormones EVERY DAY and additionally adding an EXTRA amount will really fuck you up, make you feel bad, and also cause periods or also delay them.
Birth control is made for a REASON and that is to be used as a STAND ALONE METHOD. If you DON'T trust the +99.7% effectiveness then wear condoms! 
Plan B is not candy and it is called an emergency contraceptive for a reason, ladies. It's not called Plan Just-In-Case and definitely should not be taken if you are taking the pill correctly.

I took it even though I was on birth control because I was on an antibiotic and the condom (used in response to me being on an antibiotic) broke. Sometimes it's necessary.

yes i'm aware if you literally know your BC failed because you missed 2 or more days, on antibiotic, etc it may be necessary. I posted this because i see on her often that girls (who are taking their pill correctly) took it because she was worried about precum, or was an hour late taking it, or another silly reason - the point is if you KNEW your pill FAILED it's okay. but other than that it's pointless.

i took plan b but that is because i had sex 4 days after my period and i switched the time i take my bc so i wanted to be safe because we didn’t use a condom. i used to take it at 5pm but i had switched to 8am when i started a new pack. it had been only 4 days so i wanted to be safe. i’m on the sugar pills, got my period a day early and my ‘period’ is only spotting, or it’ll be heavy for a minute, so i’ll wear a tampon, take it out way later and it’s barely bloody. is this normal? i had bad symptoms before my period. then just cramps and now i feel fine. no symptoms or anything. might be a dumb question but nobody’s really educated me on this. i don’t have a gyno and my family and friends are all really religious so i don’t have anyone to ask.
