when is a house rule too much?

Im 17 yrs old, turning 18 on february and my phone is confiscated every 10 pm so that my parents will be sure that Ill sleep early. I feel like this setup is fucked up and god damn. Im not a 5 yrs old. I live in the philippines btw so in our culture as long as you live in your parents house you have no voice and you live under their rule wheter its fucking unfair or whatever. Is this confiscating thing too much or not? I know some here are mothers so i feel like this is the perfect place to ask.

Nope. If they insisted on going through your phone, yes. I try to leave my phone alone at night anyway, as it is much healthier. As a compromise, I suggest putting your phone in a locked box on the kitchen counter before you go to bed. House rule obeyed and your privacy kept safe.

My parents did the same thing. While I understood their concern I always had major anxiety about them going through my stuff because they always do.

I don't think it's totally over the top but I think you should have the right to negotiate that sort of stuff with your parents. If you have concerns, tell them. Try to be as mature as possible about it. Maybe try to come to a compromise.
