My ex is messaging me but it's friendly. Is it considered cheating that I answered and have been talking to him? He's helping me with some of my mental health issues but I feel bad about it. What do I do? Do I tell the boyfriend? What do I say? He'll be mad and I don't want to loose him. 
UPDATE: I told him. Obv he wasn't happy and kinda flipped out and after I explained why, yeah he's still mad. I deserve it though

I am curious why your ex is helping you with your mental issues..? Just because that doesn't sound healthy, and I can't see how it would bode well for your current relationship. Can you not talk with your boyfriend about those things? If you need outside help, perhaps you should seek counseling instead? I can't imagine going to an ex is the way to really help your issues. I feel it will only make things worse in the long run. 
I wouldn't necessarily call it cheating, however, if it continues, and if you begin to confide in him instead of your boyfriend, it could very easily become an emotional affair, which is cheating. 
If you care about your current relationship-- I would tell the boyfriend, and cut off the ex for good. An ex cannot and should not be your source of emotional support. That is not healthy for you as an individual, OR for your relationship. If he needs a friend, that is not your obligation. And if you need help, it should not be from him. It is time to move on and move forward.

The fact that you feel guilty and are questioning it shows its significant enough to tell him. That way you're honest and not cheating. It could look like cheating (or an emotional affair) if he just found out himself
