Has anyone ever taken Letrozole after Clomid failed?

A little background: I have PCOS, I do not ovulate on my own, I do not have a period without taking provera, have done 3 rounds of Clomid with no success. Doctor and I decided to try letrozole next month before going to an RE.

Looking for experiences with Letrozole after Clomid didn't work for you. Any advice/experiences offered appreciated.

I am pregnant with a low dose of femara after 16+ failed clomid attempts. Over 12 years of trying. It can happen. Pray and don't lose faith!

I did not ovulate on my own either. We had 5 rounds of clomid up to 150mg that didn't make me ovulate. After the clomid I took a 3 month break. During that break I took birth control and spironolactone because my free testosterone level was too high. In June I started my first round of letrozole. I took 5mg on CD 3-7. During this cycle I took ovulation tests daily until CD21 and we had intercourse every other day  CD 11-21. All the tests had shown that I had not ovulated. I called my dr and she had me come in and get blood work just to be sure. A day later I had gotten a call that I had in fact ovulated and should wait a week more to take a pregnancy test. Letrozole worked for us! I am now 31 weeks pregnant with our first child, a son, due March 7th. My husband and I had been trying to conceive for 2.5 years and thanks to letrozole we are expecting. Also, letrozole was a lot cheaper than clomid (clomid $40/cycle, letrozole  $3.30/cycle) and I had fewer side effects with it.

I highly recommend diet before going to RE. Diet and prayer works miracles for us pcos'ers.

I've been trying for 12 years and several 20+ clomid rounds which were unsuccessful. I started a diet with no dairy, no breads,pastas or grains and no sugar. On my 3rd round letrozole 2.5mg days 3-7 and tons of prayer. I'm 6 weeks with #1. I was on diet for about 2 months. I was 170 and dropped to 150.

I'm going through the same thing. I did 4 rounds of Clomid. Ovulated 3/4 but didn't get pregnant. I was switched to Letrozole - 5mg CD 3-7 and did not ovulate. My doctor has now put me on Metformin and is going to up my Letrozole dosage for this next round. PRAYing the increased dosage works and we conceive this round. Our next step is to see a RE and that route is going to be very expensive. It isn't easy being disappointed every month. I wish you the best of luck. Baby dust!

6 failed clomid cycles, 1 failed femera cycle and this cycle in 5mg femera I had two follicles mature.... a 18 & 20mm! We triggered in Friday and have been BD every day since :)

Yes, I didn't ovulate on Clomid and asked for Letrozole after the first cycle since Clomid affected my moods awfully. Had 1 follicle on 2.5 mg Letrozole and 3 on 5mg. No side effects either.
