pulmonary embolism
Hi everyone,
So I'm a seventeen year old girl and I'm a little worried.
For the past couple months I get a sharp pain in my left chest when I breathe, shortness of breath, for about five minutes.
I also frequently get heart palpitations for about five beats and then it stops.
Today in class I was sitting down, relaxed when all of sudden I couldn't breathe at all. My chest felt like it was being stabbed with every breath and instead of five minutes, it became forty minutes of continuous pain. When I moved my torso around to stretch a little, I felt this weird rush of cold like something anxious just happened (coming close to hitting another car or something). But I was sitting in class.
I have zero family health history because both of my parents parents didn't believe in doctors. I do have asthma but these pulmonary embolism stuff I've been reading says how it's often misdiagnosed with asthma. Also my limbs are very quick to fall asleep. Like if I'm peeing and I put my arms on my legs for the two minutes I'm there, they fall asleep. Also my hands and feet are always cold. Always. Summer winter spring.
The articles I'm reading mentioned DVT, and I'm wondering what that looks like. The images on google aren't very good (specifically on the thigh). And they mentioned red warm spots and when I stand for awhile i get those.
Please help me out, my parents don't really like doctors either so I have to present a good argument if I'm allowed to go. I'm also wondering if symptoms can reoccur. Like I said it's been happening for months so it's been building up to this, I'm not sure if PE is a one and done thing.
