Who said "I love you" first?

In your current or past relationship, who said "I love you" first? How did it happen? Share! :)

My husband and I met in 9th grade, friends for four years. We were talking late one night senior year, I was being obnoxious playing what I call the why game. Everything he said I answered with why. Eventually he just yelled out "because I love you! That's why" I was in total shock! We started dating the next day. One of my favorite stories. Twelve years later we're still going strong.

I think I said "is it too soon to say I love you?" After he was supportive and helpful when I was breaking up with my long distance, manipulative, mean, ex. Granted, I was breaking up with the ex to date this one, but I'm still amazed that he was so understanding and patient. It was a big shock after an abusive relationship. Three years later, we live together and are happier than ever!

We were just friends. He took me out for coffee because I was having a bad day. When he drove me back home, I went to say goodbye and blurted out "I love you!" And immediately threw my hand over my mouth. I couldn't believe I said that; I just knew that I ruined our friendship. But he laughed, pulled my hand away, kissed me, and whispered "I love you too, dork" in my ear.

I sort of did. I was planning on letting him say it first. We had a long distance relationship in the beginning (California to North Carolina) so we would talk on the phone or Skype daily. One night, we were getting off the phone with each other, we hung up and while my phone was hanging up (I thought it had alread hung up 😒) and I quietly said "I love you" because I was getting so eager to say it and I just needed that emotional release I guess. I had started to say it every time we hung up. Well I didn't realize the phone was still on and he texted me a minute later and asked if I said I love you cause he swore he heard me say it quietly. I had to admit it and then the next day when we were skyping, he said I love you. And now we're married and having a baby 😍.

My other said it first. But we dated when we were little and got back together ten years later. I wanted to but at the right moment. My other said it weeks before I told him. But when I said it he wasn't expecting it and it ended in a great kiss and a football game.

I know it's super cliche, but it was Valentine's Day. He said something about he always thought girls said I love you first and I told him I never planned on saying it first. So he just looked at me and said it flat out! I was so shocked I couldn't speak. But then a roommate came in crying about her boyfriend and so I couldn't say it bac until I comed her down after 30 minutes! He looked so torn up I couldn't help but smile Iwgen I finally said it back. Oh how he smiled! Like the sunshine had come out after a long bad day. I was hooked right then.

My boyfriend and I were just joking around like you. I said something and he didn't think it was funny. I told him, "Oh you know you love me." I realized what I said and quickly added, "I meant that jokingly." He just looked at me and said, "But I do love you." I was like, "Oh." I didn't tell him I love him until a month later. XD
