Estrogen Cream (I really need advice please)

I went to the gynecologist the other day because of experiencing painful sex all the time, every time. It never gets better. I told her I thought I had vaginismus and my cousin has been diagnosed with it. I explained that foreplay isn't the issue, and dryness is certainly NOT the issue. At all. She told me I need to use dilators and also an estrogen cream to use every morning. I don't know why she prescribed the cream, she told me herself that it's vaginismus and that it's situational (I can use tampons no problem.) I do not take birth control because it messes me up SO badly. I have tried more than 10 different kinds and they all make me extremely moody, depressed, nauseated, or all of the three. I am hesitant to use the cream because the side effects are very similar to estrogen based birth control. I understand she is a trained physician and I'm not denying her expertise, but should I pass on the cream?? I honestly feel that I don't need it. I actually KNOW I don't need it. I think the dilators will help me and a few other tips she gave but I'm just worried about doing the estrogen cream. Opinions???
