Tandem or side by side double stroller?

Have an 8 month old and another on the way. Wondering what you guys recommend as far as tandem or side by side? Pros and cons welcome!

I have 1 of each.  The double I have is lightweight but it's a pain to get in and out of doorways and narrow store aisles with toddlers grabbing things next to them etc,  also if the kids are grumpy you get the "he's touching meeeeee!" crap lol. I'd go with tandem. I have the city select and really like it.

Depends on what you want out of it.

Tandems are easier to maneuver through narrow paths/door ways, most accept car seats, most have more storage than side by sides, folds up smaller, easier to use if you have an infant(s), etc.

Side by side is best for jogging, easier to push, most are lighter, better for toddlers/older children, etc.

We struggled on deciding what double stroller to get. Gonna be 18 month age gap between the younger 2. We looked at some tandem ones and a couple of side by side and what I didn't understand is how kids can be comfortable in the tandem ones. Everyone we looked at, there was no leg space for at least one of the kids and u could barely recline each of them let alone both of them. I'm actually really curious if anyone has any suggestions on a tandem that actually gives babies enough space to be comfortable. Everything we saw would not have lasted very long as one kid would have been so uncomfortable as they got a bit bigger and it would have been pointless. We ended up deciding on the bugaboo donkey, granted side by sides are gonna be large to fit thru doorways, but we live in Dubai so everything is huge here so it's ok for us. Following this post coz I genuinely wanna find a tandem that actually makes sense to me!

My mom had twins when I was 9 and my parents used a tandem one because the car seats could clip into it and when they were older they got umbrella strollers that could clip side by side or sometimes they would even use a bike stroller as a walking stroller because it had a lot of storage in the back

I suppose it depends on what you want or need most from your stroller. I went with a tandem, smallish (Phil & Ted) stroller because I wanted something easy to maneuver in crowded or small spaces and while running. I had other friends that said their little ones threw tantrums when one had to sit behind the other and that the side by side was the only way to keep both happy.
