skipping periods?

I'm on the mini pill (progestin only pill) and I have been for the past 5 months. Is it normal for periods to skip?  This is the first time happening to me. I also took a test (even though I highly doubted I was pregnant considering I take my pill right on time) and it was a negative. So yeah, is skipping periods normal?
