Chances of Pregnancy?
For those who use the withdrawal method, what are the chances of becoming pregnant if your partner is good at pulling out? I know that it's absolutely possible, not a reliable form of birth control, is dependent on the man's control, and much more likely to fail, but if done correctly, have you found that it's actually effective?
The reason I ask is because with my ex, we used condoms exclusively for birth control for the first few months of being together. Then, because we were both clean and monogamous, we decided to stop using them and only use the withdrawal method. Normally we tried not to have sex on my fertile days but I'm sure we did some months. I was with this man for almost 6 years with no pregnancies and no "scares".
Since then, I'm with a new guy, and we've talked about stopping the use of condoms. Considering my previous track record, I was pretty confident in the effectiveness of the method. He's told me that he has good control so I initially was for it. We've had a couple nights where we forgot a condom or something of the sort so he's had to pull out, but honestly I wouldn't really be able to tell if he did pullbout 100%. So now I'm starting to think that maybe I might have trouble conceiving since I've heard and read that pulling out is not reliable, and I haven't even had a pregnancy scare in all these years.
Also I just want to say that I'm not TTC, so the fact that I haven't gotten pregnant isn't a bad thing, but now I'm starting to get a little worried that maybe I'm defective 😂. Thoughts, ladies?
