12 week old with RSV - help??

Question

Piper had her first ER visit due to a rattling cough and lethargy - turns out poor bean has RSV. They said to keep an eye out for labored breathing and change in behavior, lethargy and mottling skin... she's super sleepy still but she's not dehdyrated and fever is below 100.4 ... is the lethargy okay?? Do I just let her sleep as much as she wants and make sure to wake her to feed?? I know when I have a cold rest is best but I'm paranoid now since they said to keep an eye out for that!

I am glad you posted this. We just got back from doctor with my 10 week old. Right now he says it seems like just a cold but could be beginning of RSV. Good luck to you!

My son had RSV at 3 weeks old. It was scary and we had a hospital stay too. Best thing to do is suction out the nose with salt water drops and keep the breathing way clear. I steamed the bathroom several times a day and that helped break up the mucus. I also rubbed baby Vicks all over him. They also sent us home with a nebulizer. It's so hard seeing them suffer and you just can't sleep being worried about them.  Try your best to not get sick if you aren't already. Take your vitamins and take care of yourself too. Being sick while caring for for a sick baby is miserable.

My baby had this around 2 months. My ped told me that it was ok to let him sleep as long as he wanted as long as he didn't go too long without eating. He said that his main concern would be him getting dehydrated. As long as they are eating enough when they are awake let them sleep. Hope that helps!

Aww I hope she is feeling better soon. My daughter had this at 5 weeks old it was awful. She was really struggling to breathe and was having intercostal recession this was the first sign I could see she was really struggling. We spent 3 nights in hospital but she was poorly a few days before she got kept in and for a bout a week after.
