Poll: Who here is breastfeeding vs formula feeding after a month?

Question

I'm switching to formula after 1 month and feel so guilty.  I am doing it because I take a medication that I can't take while breastfeeding.  I feel like people are going to judge me for making the switch, but I know it's best for me and my baby at this point.

NEVER feel bad for formula feeding. You need to do what's best for you and your baby. Is your medication permanent or temporary? If it's temporary, maybe pump and use that milk in a bath for baby? It's supposed to be good for their skin. Otherwise, if it's permanent medication, find the best formula for your baby. What's important is your babies health. As long as you're looking out for that, then you're doing great!

I had to start supplementing at 1 1/2 weeks and now she's 95% formula fed. Shes 3w4d and I just don't produce enough. 1oz a day doesnt cut it.

Never feel bad for the formula! I've been lucky and am exclusively BFing, I had to give my daughter one bottle of formula before my milk came in, but even with no issues with latch or milk production there are many times I wish I could formula feed to get some rest! I totally understand the decision!

I am also on medication and I couldn't function without it. I have formula fed my baby since birth. I also felt guilty but it was a decision I made before I had him that I also had to look after myself, if I didn't take the medication I wouldn't be much use to him. I think there's a lot to be said for a happy mum means happy baby.

Ugh. I had planned through my entire pregnancy to do breast feeding for my girl and I was able to for about 3 weeks. Then she got a stuffy nose and because she couldn't breath well laying down she refused to feed. I wanted to pump, but found myself so busy that I never did it for a couple of days and then once I did, I barely got an ounce out of both. I never seem to find the time to sit down and pump so she is on formula now and I hate that. I feel like I'm depriving her of something better but she is the one who decided, not me lol. Once she was feeling better I tried quite a few times to get her to breastfeed but she wasn't having it. She pushed away and cried but was obviously hungry. Try not to feel bad about it though, baby is still getting what they need from formula. I have to remind myself that a lot of the time too. It's sad that people have made it seem like formula is bad these days. Sometimes it just doesn't work out for some women and that's ok! As long as you and your baby are healthy and happy that's all that really matters.

. I began exclusively pumping on Christmas, which was a vast improvement to nursing. I need more sleep and can't get it because my boobs are full every 2-3 hours. We're in the process of switching to formula and I have no guilt. I'm glad i made it this far.

I have to supplement because my daughter was dropping to much weight so her Doctor told me it's best to give her 1oz formula after each feed to get her full ...now my best friend is like I can't believe your using formula already and it hasn't even been a week my baby will be a week old tomorrow she was born 9lbs 4oz and now weighs 8lbs 5oz to much to be dropping so fast she goes to the doctor tomorrow hoping she gained some oz

I felt really guilty too (I cried a lot... and even at the last appointment to the pediatrician) But I finally came to terms that breastfeeding didn't work out. Her latch was off, had to introduce bottle early. Tried pumping but it was hard trying to pump and take care of a newborn by myself when my husband was at work. So my supply started to dwindle.
She is growing and healthy. Thats everything I want... so formula it is. I was impressed they make non-gmo!

(Also I feel better she got the colostrum at least.)

Maybe next time it will go better.
