waking up every hour to feed?

My baby is a month old and it seems he gets up to feed every hour and takes about 1.5 oz every time. Is this normal? It seems for his age, every 2 hours and eating up to 4 oz is what many experience but my baby doesn't do this at all. It's also driving me nuts that he gets up so soon. Anyone else experiencing this?

Pretty normal for a newborn. Breastmilk (in a bottle or via breast) is metabolized/digested in 90 minutes (1 1/2 hours) so your newborn is going to be hungry about that frequently. Baby may eat like this for another month or two and although it's exhausting it is so good for your milk supply and establishing your milk to feed baby that often. Once baby has reached double his birth weight you may begin putting him on an easy schedule like feeding every two hours or even three if he's able to stretch that long between feedings. I won't say you NEED to do anything like another poster said lol, it's your baby and you do what you think is best! Also keep in mind baby boys can sometimes be more hungry than girl babies and just need to feed more often! What you've said sounds right in track! Keep up the good work even if it's tiring, it is a very short time our babies are little, they grow up fast!

Every baby is different.  Those are just guidelines. Not all babies eat the same and it's normal. 
I eat and still eat small amounts up to 8 times a day. That's actually very healthy and much better than eating one huge meal at once. 
At 4 weeks old, ur baby should NOT be on a feeding schedule.  Oh, and ur baby is going through growth spurs/leaps. And cluster eating is quite normal during a spur/leap.
It is important to understand that ur baby still has a small gut. Not all babies are the same. U need to feed on demand, as needed, no matter how many times or how often. 
We are living in a society that's obsessed with weight so much so, that FEEDING our babies is considered "overfeeding ",just cause baby eats more often. Ur baby needs to be fed on demand until at least 6 months. 
My daughter is 12 weeks old and she does 3 oz every hour. I see nothing wrong with it. It's a pain in the butt for us parents,  but it's very normal behavior for a baby this age. 
Do not make a schedule based on guidelines.  They are JUST guidelines.  Not all babies eat the same. 
Continue to feed baby as needed on demand. .

Every baby is different. Is he formula fed or breastmilk? Because breastmilk doesn't hold over as long. I started out giving my son a little more to eat before bedtime if he would eat. So instead of a usual 4 oz bottle I would offer 5 ounces.
