To those who exclusively pump, do you wake up at night to pump?

I pump instead of latch. My baby is 5 weeks. I went the other night 8 hours without pumping. That was my miracle stretch of sleep. But then my boobs were hurting and I ended up with tender spots on one of them that wouldn't go away till the next day. Now I think I should wake up to pump once at night to avoid engorgement and leaking. But I really want my sleep!! I guess I'm not allowed sleep. I pump about every 6 hours during the day.

Leaving milk in the breast signals for them not to keep producing more. Even if you only get up once in the night to pump, I definitely would so your supply doesn't slow down, and so you can keep up with that having a store of it

Your prolactin levels are the highest between 1-5am, you shouldn't give up that pumping session.. I always get the most milk then :)

I'm actually pumping as we speak and it's the middle of the stinkin night lol I pump about every 3 hours around the clock. Sometimes during the day I'll pump every 2 hours and have my son latch/comfort nurse to increase supply. There are times where I go 4 hours, if baby sleeps for 4 hours at night or if we are out during the day. It gets kind of crazy, but nursing him was insane. The kid takes an hour to eat regularly. Then he cluster feeds like once a week for like 2 days and he will literally nurse for hours. So since breastfeeding was crazy time consuming, pumping 20min every 3 hours seems like nothing.
