When did you start feeding your baby jar food?

My LO is 3months old & I was wondering when I could start giving him baby food.

Most would say 5-6 months but I went based off of what my son wanted. He didn't really have any interest in eating solid foods or tasting ours, so now at almost 9 months old he's finally wanting it, trying to grab my plate or sucking his lips when he sees me eating. They say anything before age 1 is just for play anyways it's not really needed.

5 months. She was super ready! She gets maybe 1/2 tblspoon of actual foot but she was always grabbing our mouths and chewing as we did or trying to put our food in her mouth so we saw her interest and she could sit in a highchair as well as on her own unsupported. So far she's had baby Oatmeal and puréed banana and apple. Honestly you and your baby are the best judge of readiness.

The doctor said at his 4 month visit I could try cereal and then puréed baby food at 5 months. He's about to be 5 months and I'm just taking it day by day, haven't tried any veggies yet and he's got cereal twice just to try. He's EBF.

My pediatrician said 5 months. 4 months for rice cereal. I started at 5 months. She was nursing nonstop and never seemed satisfied. My pediatrician said feeding her cereal would help, and it has. I didn't want to supplement with formula, as I didn't feel it was that serious (she was still gaining weight and having enough wet diapers), but I needed to do something because it was like having a newborn all over again.

She is 5 1/2 months now. She's tried rice cereal, zucchini, and sweet potato. I made the zucchini myself. I recommend waiting until your baby shows signs of being ready and your pediatrician gives you the go ahead. If you try to feed them and your baby shows no interest, doesn't move toward the spoon, and/or pushes it out with their tongue then your baby isn't ready.

Oh, it will be messy. I recommend doubling up on bibs. And be prepared for weird poops.

i started around 5months but just letting her tastes and see if she'll go for it.. and yes she did, so i jus gave her like a teaspoon a day just to make her used to the taste and see any allergic reactions.. around 6months was when i really get focus on feeding her :)
