No Short Term Disability Leave/FMLA?!

I decided to come to the interweb for suggestions. Turns out I didn't sign up for short term disability leave during open enrollment and unfortunately will only receive unpaid maternity leave. Is there anyone else going through this, suggestions, is there anything else I can do!!?? I only have vacation for two weeks

Update*** Two weeks short of working 1Yr for this company. Does anyone know how this will effect my time off!? Will they allow me to use my PDO to supplement the two weeks prior to applying for FMLA. Planning on calling HR tomorrow, but stressing out about all this stuff.

My short term would only cover maternity leave if you delivered 10 months after the insurance went into affect, so you couldn't be pregnant when you signed up.

Aren't you allowed to change your elections after open enrollment for life-changing events, such as marriage or birth of a child? I know I am allowed at my employer but it might not be the same for everyone.

Each week I put hours away in my vacation time. I started awhile ago and only put 5 away each week, I'll eventually end up with 6 weeks paid

What state are you in? A few states may have other options for you. In my state you would be SOL. No state short-term disability, and you couldn't get unemployment.

If I were you I would try to bank as much money as you can between now and then. You can do things like Swagbucks to make a little extra cash.
