is he cheating or am I being paranoid??

My SO and I have been together 2 years officially but we've been dating on and off from 2010, we've had a few run ins with ex's and other women who claim that he's never made it known that he was in a relationship, but for whatever reason I seem to brush it under the rug even though it hurts my feelings, or maybe because I'm trying to make it work for the life that's inside of me, so recently I've asked for him to just put up a pic of me as his display pic for WhatsApp messaging and he downright refused! His reason being is that people would only take my picture to go and gossip or start drama🤔🙄 what do you guys think??!
