.Is bleeding normal after a cervix exam at 4.5 weeks postpartum or coincidental period?

I went to a doctor's appointment for some soreness and abnormal discharge down there and since a UTI and yeast infection were ruled out my doctor had to investigate. He did something sort of like a cervix exam where he found that it was inflamed from an infection. The next day I had blood on my pad. I had stopped bleeding at 3 weeks postpartum and it was so light for a week before then. Now it's almost to a normal period flow. How soon is it possible to get a period postpartum while breastfeeding? Should I call my doctor and ask about it? Or is having this kind of bleeding after this exam soon so after birth caused this amount of bleeding?
