Year of ttc after laparoscopy discovered I have PID and IVF only option. Advice please anyone?!?

Jodie

After a year of unsuccessfully trying to conceive myself (29) and partner (32) started testing for fertility problems. His sperms fine and we did all blood tests but my HSG test revealed possible blocked tubes. I had a Laparoscopy yesterday hoping they could unblock them and after coming round from general anaesthetic was told I have PID caused from untreated chlamydia and basically my tubes are 100% f***ed and only option for us is IVF. I was still woozy from anaesthetic so didn't ask any questions just got very upset but I'm baffled... I have only had a few sexual partners. After each new one I have always had a full sexual health screening and always had a negative test. After 6 months of ttc the doctor even did another one to make sure which was negative so I am lost as to how this has developed when I've always thought of myself as careful. I'll find out more at my follow up appointment in a few weeks. Reading online has told me it can also happen due to having a complication with coil and I had one in for 7 years.....

To add insult to injury I have found out in my area (Bradford) you are only entitled to one attempt at IVF on the NHS funded. With odds being stacked against us at 33% success my dream and longing for a big family is dwindling away and pushing me into an awful depression. I can't get out of bed at the moment due to laparoscopy surgery but feel like if I could I still would be unable to. I thought the heart break of a BFN was bad each month but this is almost like an indefinite BFN. Any advice or support from people who have had similar problems or successful IVF after PID would be much much appreciated.
