must haves on a budget before baby is born?

Can anyone give me a list of things I NEED before my son is born? I know I'm missing important stuff, I'm struggling with money with not being able to work and doing it on my own so I need to know what stuff is by far the most important to get before he's born and the rest I will get later.

Car seat, diapers, wipes, formula and bottles if you don't breastfeed (though if you're super strapped for cash, I would make every effort to breastfeed solely for the financial aspect), a couple outfits, a bib or two if you think they're necessary (my daughter didn't spit up much and never needed them, so yours may not either) and a safe place for baby to sleep. You can get in the bath with baby or put some towels in the sink for them to lay on so you don't need a baby bath, use wash cloths or towels as burp rags, ask for an extra pacifier, hat, and receiving blankets at the hospital to take home (tell them they disappeared or you can't find it or something if you have to). You really don't need a ton when they first come home.

You MUST have a carseat and place for baby to sleep, you'll get the most use of a crib. A pack n play will also work for the first few months and then you can use it when baby becomes mobile as a playpen, but then you'll need a crib.  Other essentials are a stroller, infant tub  (I got a cheap one for $15 and have used it for 3 kids). All my kids lived in long sleeve onesies and pants. A diaper bag you can use any big bag or backpack, nylon lined is great.  A swing is nice but not necessary.

Besides diapers and wipes , you'll need bottles, formula, bibs, a bassinet (if u dont have enough for a crib) carseat, baby bath stuff, hand mittens

I learned moreso what not to buy if you are trying to be frugal....

Don't stock up on diapers. You waste money in the end because some leak bad or baby is allergic or grows too fast.

Same with bottles. I wasted a ton of money buying fancy bottles my baby hated.

Baby doesn't need a ton of clothes, etc. Second hand is just fine, and many times they new.

You can get nice cribs at Walmart.com. I got a great one for $99 that I love.

I got a great car seat travel system with stroller for $167. Shop sales.

Don't waste money on fancy bedding, baby should only have a sheet anyways.
