How many times should thr doctor check "down there" before time to give birth?

I'm currently 26+ wks and my OBGYN only checked anything down there once in the first trimester. 
I'm wondering when I should expect more "peeks" because I'm to the point of having difficulty shaving.

Not till like 36 weeks when they check if your dilated or do a test for infections before the baby comes

Normally they start cervix checks around 36 weeks unless there's reasoning to start checking earlier

At 34-35 weeks mine starts checking weekly.

My midwife doesn't check at all until active labor or 41 weeks, whichever comes first. I am 35 weeks and haven't been checked yet. I won't be until I'm in labor.

OBs tend to check quite a bit more though.

I was only checked twice before I went into labor.

So more and mor doctor aren't checking unless you think your in labor or are due. More and more they are finding it does not show at all when you will go into labor. You could be 4-5 cm dialated and not go into labor for weeks. They find it just puts you at risk for an infection. That being said some still will check but I would question them if they wanted to check you before you were term or 37weeks unless you were having preterm labor.

Mine just started at 37 weeks and only by my request.  She asked if I wanted her to check dilation or not and that it didn't really matter at this point whether I was or not because baby would be fine if born.

I wasn't checked till 39 weeks. Dialation doesn't really tell you when go time is going to be. The day my water broke i wasn't dialated at all lol
