My sister couldn't won't be able to throw my baby shower on time do I have the right to be upset?

Well to keep it short I am 35 weeks pregnant and when I was about 5 months my sister wanted to do a baby shower. I told her I wasn't sure if I want one but she insisted on doing it. She just recently told she won't be able to do it after I followed up with her to see what was going on with the shower because I haven't heard from her from some time. She can't afford to. I'm not trying to be selfish but I'm abit disappointed. Alot of people my husband knows offered to throw a shower for us but he told them my sister was going to do it. My sister said she wants to do the shower after the baby is born which I like the idea but I'm not too confident enough she going to follow through with it.

I would be upset, but mainly for lack of communication.
Instead of her telling you she couldn't throw it after YOU contacted her, she should've called you when she first realized she couldn't do it. Maybe there would've still been time to salvage it

Upset because your sister can't afford to throw you a shower? No, you shouldn't. You shouldn't expect her to go into debt planning your shower, you should respect that sometimes it happens. Do we NEED showers? No, we just want showers. And if you do need a shower for the help of getting things for baby, you can't be mad at her having a rough time financially, either. Have hubby ask those who were interested in throwing you a shower earlier, if they'd still be interested, or take your sister up on the offer of having a shower after baby comes.

I'd be upset that she wasnt open and up front w me about it. And then not finding out til its too late when others were ready and willing to throw the shower... You have every right to be upset.

If she couldn't afford it, that's one thing,  but she probably should have told you beforehand. I definitely understand how you feel because with my first my coworkers volunteered to throw me a shower, only to not tell me they cancelled it until an hour after it was supposed to start.  It's been almost 2 years and I'm still bitter about it, so I get where you're coming from. But I suggest since you don't feel confident in her throwing the shower, get more involved in the planning so that you know it's going to happen.

I wouldn't be upset that she couldn't afford it. I'd be upset that she said she'd do it, then didn't tell you she couldn't. I can't imagine telling my sister I'd throw one for her, then realizing I couldn't afford it (that part is understandable) and then not telling her until she asked about it and it was too late!

I wouldn't be upset with her for having money troubles, I would just be upset that she didn't tell you right away so you could figure something else out, or let someone else plan it. She could have just felt really bad she wasn't able to, I mean she still should've told you but maybe that's why she didn't. Maybe after the baby is the best since it would be hard to do so last minute now, just ask if she needs help doing any of it, and help her plan or even with the money side of things so you make sure you have one if that's what you want

I'd be upset about the lack of communication also.  I wouldn't put much faith into the after baby is here party, kinda sounds like back peddling.  I completely understand showers can be expensive so if that was the issue she should have said something when she realized she'd bitten off more than she could chew.  Her lack of communication caused you to pass up other offers.

I don't think you should be upset with her bc from the beginning you told her you weren't sure that you wanted one. You should just hold off until baby is here.

I wouldn't want the shower after the baby is born.. that's a lot of guests passing around the baby at such a young age. I would be kinda angry at the lack of communication bit she was probably embarrassed and ashamed. Just give her the money and let her plan it.
