Can anyone relate???

Question

Today my doctor called me because I had an abnormal pap test I'm 14weeks pregnant and they want to do a Colposcopy to check my cervix for cancerous cells they also told me I have hpv ...has anyone had any of these and how has it effected your pregnancy I'm worried.

HPV is a virus that is often linked to cervical cancer. When they detect abnormal cells on a PAP, it is also cervical cancer that they are concerned about and wanting to rule out. But having HPV and an abnormal PAP does NOT mean you have cervical cancer. It just means that you are classed at high enough risk of developing it that they want to do some further investigation and keep you safe. It is far better to know at this early stage, to stop things developing, so it's great that this was picked up at your smear. As much as you can, try to see this as a positive thing, which is there to protect you and keep you safe and healthy for your baby x
