Depo shot being effecrive immediately?

I got the shot 2 years ago but only been on it for 3 months and decided to get back on it starting today. And theres is one thing I am questiong about the depo shot.. is it immedetly effective once you're injected?  Just curious i plan using condoms also but sh*t happens so I was wondering will it be effective once you're on it? Lol sorry so much questions.

If you get it while on your period it is effective right away. If you're not on your period it's effective a week after
