Do you believe obesity is a disease?

Question

Obviously people who have thyroid, or diabetes that cause people to become obese are diseases. But do you believe obesity itself is a diease? I personally believe NO. Becoming large is not a dieases its a choice. Not eating right, exercising , and eat junk/ fast food.... There are no other reasons unless you have a health reason that causes people not to loose weight that people should obese. Do you agree or disagree? And comment why you agree or disagree. Thanks.

To get to the point of obesity, eating has become an addiction. Like any addiction it is beyond difficult to stop, and to lose the weight is another story.

Obesity isn't so much a disease but it's an addiction, like any other. And just like all other addictions you need strong will power, support and guidance to break out of it.

I would say in most obese cases it's pure laziness some aren't just saying if ur 600lbs ur just plain lazy why would u let yourself go?

Actually there are some diseases/disorders that are genetic abnormalities that cause obesity from uncontrollable and excessive eating, like Prader Willi Syndrome. They do not have the sensation of satiety. Most of the time the parents have to put a lock and chain on their refrigerators because the children will get up through the night and eat whatever they can grab.

Besides the other medical reasons. I believe it's an eating disorder.
