Position of cervix?

Doctor checked me this morning during my appointment and she said that my cervix was still posterior (towards the back) but it was 70% effaced and about 1cm dilated. Has anyone's doctor mentioned anything like this? If so how long did it take for your cervix to "move into place" for lack of a better word? (I know everyone is different and its hard to predict. Would just like to know about real experiences)
