being induced - is it that bad?? your experience?

I may be getting induced and I'm really nervous, This is my third baby, I had 2 natural deliveries no pain relief & waterbirths. They are wanting to induce me this time around and I have no idea what to expect, are things more likely to go wrong? Will I be bed bound? Can I still have a waterbirth?

I was induced with the oral pill, I was still Mobile. I was given half of it at 10am, contraction's started at 1015am, 2 pm I was dilated to a 2cm so I was given the second half. I was still able to get out of bed, shower, walk, eat you make it! 5pm I was given the epi and I started pushing at 635pm and had her at 6:53pm! No complications, I didn't tear or need to be cut! Best experience compared to my first!

If you had two natural births why on earth would they want to induce you with this one.. I would flat out refuse. Normally one intervention leads to another.. induction leads to stronger longer contractions and most women end up opting for the epidural. This causes the need for more pitocin which can put a lot of unnecessary stress on the baby. I had one induction for medical reasons and my body was not ready to labor. It was a long hard 27 hours.. :/ I'm going natural with this baby via home birth so I can be in charge of everything I do.. I would recommend the same to you especially since you've done it before. With induction yoy will be stuck in the bed hooked to IVs most likely and it's hard to labor naturally laying down.

My mom was induced when she had me, & it was fine-- she didn't get the epidural or anything either.

Personally if you have a choice I wouldn't be induced. I was induced due to my bp rocketing on my due date. But it was a horrible experience and one I'm still struggling with.

It does make contractions more painful and the statistics show induced births end in c section more than non induced.

I had forceps in the end as my LG got stuck

I think my experience would have been very different if I had let it happen naturally

BTW I was already 4cm when I went in at midday, they broke my eaters at 5pm and within 15 minutes I was having back to back contractions

I got induce Friday night didn't have him till Sunday night deu to emergency c section, i only dilated to 4cm and it stop, i end up having a fever my baby heart beats went up to 200 per min we both have an infection, he have to stay in the nicu for 1 weeks treatment while I'm upstairs in the different room getting treatment it was hell for me, I will never getting induce again but everybody is different your might be easier then mine Goodluck

I don't think being induced is bad. It definitely makes the contractions hurt a little more than they normally would. Sometimes labor needs an extra push. Good luck!

I was induced at a week late with my third. Medicine through the iv. I have to say it was a 7 and a half hour labor but it was my most painful labor out of the 3. I feel like the medicine they use to induce made my contractions much stronger.
